James Freedman, a long good-bye: He infuriated you when you disagreed with him. He inspired you when you agreed with him. James Freedman, the retired president of Dartmouth who recently took on campus critics of Israel, is slowly dying of cancer (and he knows it) and the Globe’s profile of him is definitely worth the read.
