'Assassin's Gate': Amid a lot of craziness in my life these days, I finally finished 'Assassin's Gate.' The second to last chapter is superb, with Packer following a grieving father who tries to make sense of the death of his son in Iraq. Packer interweaves the tale with the abstract war-related rants of bloggers, pundits and politicians. He has little tolerance for those who only want to hear about successes in Iraq -- or don't want to hear about successes in Iraq. ... I plan to buy 'Cobra II,' but don't know when I'll read it. I'm a little overdosed on Iraq right now. ...
