OK, so it's not a 'local hole-in-the-wall' diner. But a 'franchised hole-in-the wall' IHOP in Harvard Square is better than no late-night drunk hole-in-the-wall in Harvard Square. So maybe there's hope yet for Harvard Square. ... The discussion about whether Boston is becoming a better place partly centers, I think, on the loss of original locally owned stores, restaurants, bars and coffee houses, etc. That's a national -- and even global -- problem. ...
