'It was heroic, but it crossed a line'?
Decide for yourself. Maybe there is a line. But don't we accept and even praise fathers and mothers who leave their families behind to fight and struggle in faraway lands? Isn't that what the Sharps did during World War II? ... I know the issue is tricky. I recently talked a friend out of joining the Army precisely because he had children. I'm glad I did. But I'm also not proud of it. I understood his urge to serve -- and deeply admired his instinct to take action. Had he gone, I would have deeply respected his decision.
