Alan Greenspan is all over the map regarding his 'oil' remark. ... Now Robert Gates is rewriting history: "I know the same allegation was made about the Gulf War in 1991, and I just don't believe it's true." ... Not that I'm a member of the 'It's All About Oil' crowd. Michael Moore still thinks the Afghan campaign was about natural gas. But idiocies of the left shouldn't be matched with idiocies of the right. September 11 profoundly changed the dynamics of our Middle East policies. But it didn't change the fundamental fact that our Middle East policies have always taken into account oil. ...
