Here's an excellent
update and analysis of what's happening in Iraq. I hadn't realized Muqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army was so despised by so many in the Shiite-led government and Shitte-majority population. That's good news if true. ... My worry: The Iraqi Army was thrown into this a.) too early and b.) with expectations too ridiculously high. Hope I'm wrong. ... As far as I can tell, this was a calculated move by the government -- not an after-the-fact reaction to a flare up in violence. ...
