'Something in between to attract diners'
Hub Blog likes the idea of a café on the Common -- though I'm not sure it really requires 20 people to research the idea in New York. The logical place for one is near the Visitors Center and Frog Pond. A simple outdoor café, with coffee and wine and small eats, would probably do the trick. It would need an enclosed year-round glass area so people could watch skaters during the winter. ... The best park café I've ever seen is in Cape Town's Company's Gardens. Nestled in the middle of a botanical garden, the unobtrusive café was a real treat, offering wine, beer, coffee, tea, sodas and simple picnic-like food. ... Downtown Boston already has a park food stand, by the way, on the Esplanade near the Hatch Shell. It's really just a shack. It works. But it could be much better. ...
