'There are abuses'
He said it. Not me -- and he's the one who appointed James Aloisi. ... How hard is it going to be to reform the state's pension systems? This is roughly how the debate has gone and will go:
Public: We want pension reform!
Beacon Hill: We'll tighten lobbyist reform laws.
Public: We want pension reform!
Beacon Hill: We'll reform campaign-finance laws.
Public: We want pension reform!
Beacon Hill: We'll consolidate agencies.
Public: We want pension reform!
Beacon Hill: We'll pass a budget transparency law.
Anything but pension reform. And then they won't even deliver on the distractions they promised.
