Outlawing public unions
It needed to be said – and it needs to be considered. The same thought of outlawing public unions came to me last week after Boston firefighters were awarded their now infamous 19 percent pay increase – in the middle of what should be called the Great Private Sector Recession -- and the realization that the city council is likely do nothing. Even if the council manages to summon the courage to do the right thing, their first inclination was to bow to their new masters. An ‘oligopolistic’ relationship between public unions and lawmakers exists – and we all know it.
