Major League Baseball's big October problem, Part II
Re yesterday's post, from Reader No. 1: "You are quite right
about the absurdly protracted schedule but... I'm afraid we are never going
back to the halcyon days of our youth until and unless people stop watching the
World Series in droves, thereby compromising TV revenues... and even then the
ownership solution will probably be to schedule even more TV games in the form
of playoff 'rounds.' This year's second Wild Card is just the
beginning."
Fyi: In the post below, I mentioned how the Sox finale took place on Oct. 2. It was actually last night. Shows how I've kind of tuned out the Sox this year.
