Mitt’s 2002 comeback campaign
I've
harped on this point a lot, but
Matt Viser does a much better job recounting Mitt's comeback in the 2002 gubernatorial race in Massachusetts. I forgot all about the Sleeping Basset Hound commercial and the attacks on Shannon O'Brien's tenure at a failed health care company. I also knew he was down in the polls post-Labor Day in 2002, but forgot he was down by six points in late September. ... This is NOT to say history is going to repeat itself in the current presidential race. But the 2002 race does show Mitt knows how to pivot to the attack after a long period of incredibly inept campaigning. He doesn't have much time, but the polls are still close and there's still a month to go.
